The Metro
Chicago, IL
Review by: Manuel Acance
This was the
first time I saw him play and although he played a pretty short set, it was
really nice to see him play in person. I've only listened to his
music for a few months, but I've become such a huge fan. Anyway, I really
enjoyed his new songs (my friend almost melted when she heard "This Fight"), but
I was happy that he played "Caught Up In Your Love" and "Consistency".
I was standing
in the balcony when it was time for Ari to perform, and it was a good view. My
friend Kristine also thought that it was cool the way he performed in
those brown socks. The Metro is such a great venue because you always get a good
view of the stage no matter where you are. We were able to catch a glimpse
of Ari on the way out, although we couldn't say hi or anything. The crowd had to
make way for the 11:00 show.
Overall, it was a good show - I missed Georgia Ave, but I was able to catch the last 3 songs by Mer. Llama was great (heard them for the first time) and the guitarist all the way to the right was so good it was scary. As soon as I got home, I went to ordered Ari's new CD because I couldn't get "This Fight" out of my head. The ticket price was well worth it, I would've gladly paid more than $5.
Ari's official
website says he'll be playing at Schuba's on Dec. 29. Hopefully, I'll be able to
see that show as well, and review that one too...
